Located 12 miles north of the Taos Plaza, 13 miles from the Taos Ski Valley and just north of the beautiful valley of Valdez is Gallina Canyon. The land is on an alluvial fan at the base of the Sangre De Christo Mountains. It has a slight slope to the south and is covered by Piñon, Cedar and Ponderosa Pine Trees. The views are nothing less than magnificent with the Sangre De Christo Mountain range on the East, Taos to the south with the Truchas Peaks and Picuris Mountains behind, and the desert to the West.

It is very quiet in the Gallina Canyon area and feels very isolated and yet it is close enough to Taos to be practical. We have a nice community of families here with kids of all ages. Most residents work in Taos or Taos Ski Valley. We drive a couple of miles over a slow gravel road to get in, and a 4 wheel drive vehicle is preferred in the winter, but this is a small price to pay for privacy! We have a road association and each land owner contributes $100 to $200 a year depending on how far up the road they live. This amount of road dues gets a couple of gradings, some touch up gravel and snow plowing of the main road.

The title to this land is good and title insurance is provided with a sale. Electric lines run through or by the property, phone cables are in the road. A Buyer will need to install a water well and septic system. Well depth is from 250 ft. to 500 ft. depending on the elevation of the parcel. Every well dug in the area has hit water.

This area is very unique. The land has been subdivided by several individuals rather than one developer. The freedom of the use of the land is not heavily restricted and the prices are not a high as other developments in Taos County. Yet the land and view are exceedingly beautiful. Land which matches the feeling of isolation and beauty of Gallina Canyon would be beyond the financial reach of most people if it were located in many other states of our country or even in other areas of Taos County.
